Though Bart Wellens retired after the 2014/2015 cyclocross season, he returned today for a final farewell. He rode a lap of the course with many of his former teammates and then spent some time on the podium with his family, before he hung up his bike for good. Yes, he literally hung his bike up on a hook, as the Dutch saying goes.
Other than that, it was just the usual, boring Ruddervoorde, with plenty of dickish course marshals. This will remain myleast favourite race of the season – but the good news is that Gavere, one of my favourites, is next Sunday. That will bring the balance back. More to come soon.
