Traveling around in America is always special for me. I’ve seen so many films set in America, that whenever I have the opportunity to spend some time there, it always feels like I am in a movie and I love that feeling.
Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to go the US to cover the cyclocross World Championships and I tried to cram as much as possible into those 10 short days. I flew to Houston and spent a few days with friends. In the middle of the grim, European winter, spending some time in just a t-shirt for a change was really, really nice.
Next stop was Cincinnati and as I missed the Cincinnati Kings race, I decided to drive up to Detroit. Spent a night there and then drove down to Louisville, through the flat but strangely attractive Ohio and Indiana. Urban decay, roads without bends and a lot pickup trucks.
Enjoy the following selection of photos, it’s a mixture of shots I took with my Canon EOS 1D and shots I took with a simple, disposable film camera.

Nice pics of Detroit, I grew up there and moved away about 10 years ago. I always thought sections of it would make an amazing cyclocross course.
