Back in Europe and we brought the sunshine with us. While the weather was atrocious all week at home, it got a lot better yesterday. Just in time, as my first e-bike trip to Belgium was about to start. That being said, it didn’t kick off without hiccups, and that’s an understatement. I missed my train at Tonbridge by two minutes, which meant that I was going to miss my 4pm ferry in Dover. I got there at 3:30pm and they put me on the 6pm ferry, which would have been ok, only it transpired that said ferry is delayed by an hour and a half. Long story short, I arrived at the Airbnb in De Panne four hours after I was supposed to, which was suboptimal, but at least the room was nice and the bed was comfy.
While the start was not the best, this morning was simply wonderful. The sun was shining, the air was crisp, I couldn’t have picked a better weekend for the starting my bike commutes to Belgium. I’m now off to catch my train from Brugge to Genk, because tomorrow is the first European World Cup this season and the first-ever World Cup in Zonhoven! See you tomorrow.
