I had been looking forward to this trip for a long time. Last year was the first time in almost ten years that I hadn’t made my annual trip to the US. I missed it, I love coming here, it’s always fun and special. The lead up was super busy, so I arrived absolutely exhausted, but exhilarated at the same time. Even the small setback of booking my rental car pick up to Midway airport instead of O’Hare couldn’t dampen my enthusiasm.
It was good to be back in Waterloo, enjoyed meeting many familiar faces, saying hello to people I haven’t seen for two years. Yesterday’s race was really good fun and exciting, especially the women’s race. It seems like we’ll be having another season of great racing, a deep pool of talent fighting epic battles for the win. It was good to see Blanka doing well, too.
Like the rest of the cyclocross bubble, I’m on my way to Fayetteville, looking forward to checking out the #cxworlds course – just like every other rider.
