Not long after the women’s race concluded, the men lined up for their race and it was quite the line-up. The promise of precious UCI points, that can come handy once the season kicks in, lured many big names to the startline: former World Champion Bart Wellens and Fidea-Telenet teammate Rob Peeters, Bart Aernouts and current U23 World Champ Lars Van Der Haar, Jonathan Page, Tim Johnson and Jeremy Powers to name a few.
The race started at a blistering pace and the lead was changing constantly. Bart Wellens started the last lap with quite a bit of gap but by the finish the gap was closed and it all came down to a sprint finish, where the youngest of all outsprinted the seasoned veterans.
