This is bloody hard. I’ve been to a couple of downhill courses but this is the steepest, craziest so far, hands down. Most of the course is very steep, it’s very tricky to get around for us, photographers, fortunately, there’s a dirt track next to the course, so it’s not impossible, but definitely very challenging.
The torrential rain that greeted me when I arrived in Leogang dried up soon, but an ugly drizzle stayed with us for the most part of the afternoon. I tried a couple of different angles and different places but I need a bit more time to sort everything out.
The view is absolutely stunning, even though the clouds cover much of it.
Short of being purple, it definitely looks like a Milka cow 🙂

French rider Fabien Pedemanaud made one timed run, his 5:03.09 time was the 36th, 48 second behind timed training winner Samuel Blenkinsop.
I was sitting comfortably in a nice little ditch, in a romantically cold stream of water, when Fort William winner Gee Atherton stopped right in front of me, to measure up a tricky section of the course.
