Hello again! I haven’t posted for a while, it’s been almost three years since my final cyclocross race! I’ve finally gathered all the remaining copies of my albums and I thought I’d write a little intro to them and offer a massive discount to make sure they all find a home.
First up is the 2013/2014 album, which was I think the last one that was designed by my good friend, Kriszta Czeizler and it was the last one that had a separate chapter for every race I’ve covered in that season. Here are my highlights from that book.
Can anybody still remember the huge debate whether disc brakes should be used in cyclocross or not? Well, here is the historic moment when Lars van der Haar won the first-ever cyclocross World Cup in Valkenburg on a bike equipped with disc brakes.
It still breaks my heart how young we lost Amy Dombroski. Simon Burney wrote a moving eulogy and he kindly provided one of Amy’s poem as well.
The photo essay about the Wymans
When I first spent some time with the legend who’s known as Brook Watts, he turned out to be this infinite source of amazing stories about cyclocross. Back in 2014, I managed to convince him to write me about how he got into cyclocross. It’s an extraordinary tale of cross racing in the 1980’s in Texas, of all places. The piece is accompanied with some fantastic photos from Brook’s friend, Keith Adamek – it’s a brilliant trip down memory lane.
That fantastic World Championships at Hoogerheide and Zdenek Stybar’s unexpected last World Champion title
It seems that there is a realistic chance that cyclocross could be going to the Olympics – so it’s really interesting to read Stef Wyman’s thoughts on the topic from over ten years ago!
I didn’t know at the time that the 2014 Oostmalle Sluitingsprijs would be the last-ever race of Niels Albert. As I was putting the book together, he announced his retirement due to health reasons, so I dedicated a whole chapter to his career.
So be quick, only two copies left of this edition of the book, it can be yours for only £9.99 plus postage!
