Whooa, this was long day! Thinking back, this was the first time since January 2020 that I shot more than two races on a day – the last a time juniors’ World Cup race was held. I’ve gotten used to just shooting two races a day, so today’s five was a shock to the system. It didn’t help, that before the very first race, I thought I found a shortcut, which ended up being a little, marshy patch and I slid shin-deep into the mud with both feet. Things could only get better after that.
On the plus side, it was great to have a women’s junior race, the first World Cup, if I’m not mistaken. It was great to see the best of the next generation. Tabor is also the closest race to Hungary, so I got the see a few Hungarian friends and had a little chinwag. Other highlights included Brits on every podium in the first three race, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado and Annemarie Worst being back in the mix or seeing some retired riders, like Sophie de Boer or Adam Toupalik.
After a long day, it’s time to head out for some food and tomorrow, I’ll start my journey back to England. Wish me good luck and punctual Deutsche Bahn trains!
