Day two done and the Vamberg has somewhat redeemed itself in my eyes. The smell of burning rubbish didn’t disappear overnight, but the sunshine made everybody’s day just a little better. The other thing that brought me some joy was the street food tent near the press tent. Some local chaps were making burgers for the VIPs and it turned out that if you had an official badge, you get have one, too. I queued up for one and boy, it was a delight. I do like a juicy burger and given that this wasn’t a proper restaurant setting, it was a fantastic burger, a lovely surprise on a windy day.
The racing was great, too. It was inspiring to see Puck Pieterse’s almost angry chase after an early fall and Lars van der Haar’s dogged chase also

That European Champion jersey will be worn with a bit of extra pride, I assume.
