Today was a day that I won’t forget anytime soon. Today was the first-ever win by a Hungarian rider at a world class-level bike race. Today was the first day, when I heard our national anthem called Himnusz while Blanka Kata Vas was standing on the podium. Today was the first day that I asked for a photo with an active rider (thanks for the photo, Guy Vermieren!).
This win has been on the cards since Blanka’s outstanding winter in 2019/2020 and I’ve always thought it’s not if but when she’ll score the first one. Well, today was the day and on the oldest cyclocross courses of all, the mother of all crosses, at Overijse, on a muggy, soggy, pretty ugly day. As you can tell, it’s been an emotional afternoon (I guess even more so for her) and it will take some time for it to sink in. I’m just very grateful for being able to be here today and witness this moment.

We‘ve enjoyed this moment very much. This has been emotional, I can tell.
Overijse never disappoints, so it didn‘t on that day.
