Now that was an interesting day! It all started with Blanka Kata’s amazing start and then an exciting women’s race. How cool was Honsinger’s second place? Shame Blanka faded away, but let’s not forget she’s just 20. Plenty of time to gain experience and get stronger.

The men’s race I think finally brought what we’ve all been waiting for the last two or three years: a race of (roughly) equals and a lot of excitement. Though early on it looked like Pidcock was going to ride away with it, MvdP and Van Aert closed the gap and then duked it out for the win. It was definitely a race to remember.

While we were sitting in our little racing bubble, all sorts of Covid restrictions have been announced, on both sides of the channel, so it will be interesting to see how my trip on Wednesday and during the weekend will pan out! I would love to write more but the press room is so cold, I can barely feel my fingers.

    Oh my!

I can only agree as both races were very satisfying from our point of view.
Great to see Kata Blanka Vas and Tom Pidcock thrive in the elite field.

Fingers crossed you’ll be able to return to the UK without any major problems.

    Stay safe.
