It all started as GVA trofee. It was great while it lasted, then came bpost bank trofee. When you wanted to refer to it, it didn’t just roll off your tongue, but it was ok. Then came DVV Verzekeringen trofee and over the years, we got used to that, too. It seems, that X2O Badkamers (X2O bathrooms) is the most complicated names of all, but I’m sure by the end of the season (unless it’s next week) it will feel familiar, too.
The no-spectator dichotomy carried on today. Getting around is easy, there are all sorts of new angles and parts of the course that open up because there are no spectators, but at the same time, without them, it feels like a hollow victory. Especially at the Koppenberg, that has attracted good crowds even in the last few years. Another race in the bag, it will be interesting to see if the racing continues in the next couple of weeks after all these new lockdown measures.
