Normally, I put up tight edits here, but after today’s dramatic skies and dramatic races, I felt a bigger gallery is in order.
The course was a very pleasant surprise, at least from a logistical point of view. The numerous overpasses make it really easy to get around and the dedicated crossing points for photographers also make life much easier. After wandering around the place for two days, I reckoned that I would be able to shoot either one end of the course or the other, but not both, with the only exception of the elite men’s race. That did not turn out to be the case, I managed to cover almost all of the course.
What’s also an interesting question is whether the Dutch will be able to pull off the clean sweep – ie winning all six gold medals. Out of the nine medals available today, they won seven, only Madigan Munro (USA) and Kevin Kuhn (SUI) managed to ‘steal’ a bronze and a silver medal. Let’s see what tomorrow brings!

Aw that photo of Ceylin and Annemarie’s hands gives me goosebumps.
Thanks, Marco. As you can see, I nearly missed it…
