Koksijde did not disappoint. It was dark, it was grim, it was windy, and unlike last year, it actually took place. As the first race of the season, when I shot the juniors, it took me some time during cataloguing the photos to figure out who is who, but I’m sure that will change soon enough.
Maud Kaptheijns seems to be just as invincible as her compatriot, Mathieu van der Poel. Oh, and before I forget it, many people were asking on Twitter and Instagram about the paint job of his bike and the meaning of the American flag on the fork’s crown. Here is what van der Poel said about that:
“Because it is the land of hope and glory and I got the leader’s jersey there”
