The riders would probably agree with me, that this was the queen stage of this year’s Giro Rosa. Three big climbs, that looked bad on the map and even worse in reality. Incredibly hard work to get to the top and then a terrifying rush down to the bottom. And then repeat twice.
All this hardship was compensated by the stunning views. There sections of the race, where I almost forgot that we were in a race as I was looking up and down the surrounding, gorgeous mountains. How lucky I am, I thought, that I could be here and I could be part of this great race. Then the descent started and I was close to shit my pants a few times, but that’s a different story.
As I write this, we are slowly making our way to Genova for the 7th stage. The transfer will take over three hours, this stage kind puzzled everybody – why travel 600 kilometres for one stage? On the plus side, we might get a chance to swim in the sea tonight. I won’t bore you, dear reader, with photos of that.
