So the season has started! Today was the first race of the season (or at least for me) and I was well excited prior to driving there. Arriving to velodrome I had a similar feeling you have before a date: excitement and slight anxiety but you know it’s going to be fun.
And it was fun indeed! I felt a bit rusty and a few riders seemed to be a bit rusty, too, but the racing was exciting as ever. I managed to catch up with a couple of expected mates, like Andy and some unexpected friends like Mark Smith.
Though it had been raining cats and dogs all week long before the race, it wasn’t muddy at all and apart from a quick shower an hour before the race, it was dry, though a bit chilly.
This was probably the only race I covered this year in England as as soon as the season starts I’ll spend every weekend on the other side of the Channel, but I couldn’t have asked for a better start, it was fun and got the rusty bits moving.
