So we’re back in Hoogerheide. The Cyclocross World Championships 2014. As Helen Wyman pointed it out, this is the third World Championships in Hoogerheide in her career and she’s been only riding for 12 years. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing, I will let you decide that.

I got here midday today but things were pretty low-key, not a lot happening. It was a cold, but sunny day and the course is dry. Not bone dry, but dry enough to call it a fast course. That’s the situation at the moment, it can change if a lot of rain happens to fall in the coming days. There are as many predictions as weather websites out there.

The press centre is empty. Not for long.

Zdenek Stybar's bike is being being prepared by his trusted mechanic. He has finally made the decision to race at the Worlds and that means good racing on Sunday.

The course itself was blocked today but there was a narrow path next to the course, that offered the riders an opportunity to try out certain parts of the course.

The course is predominantly dry at the moment and the forecast only predicts some rain for Saturday, so as things are standing at the moment, it should be a mostly dry race weekend.
